The Consultation
Prologue: Meet Your Raconteur
Our initial consultation is a journey of discovery. We’ll discuss your likes and dislikes, always and nevers, your tastes and your preferences. We’ll cover your style sense, yes, but we’ll also talk more broadly about how you live your life. What sort of music do you prefer? Where do you vacation? What drink do you order at the bar?
Then we’ll turn to the sartorial specifics. Why are you interested in made-to-measure garments? Special occasion or everyday dressing? Business or pleasure? Summer or winter? Whether you’re ready with the story you want to tell or have never considered it before, we’ll collaborate to communicate who you are through your clothing.
At the end of our initial consultation, you’ll be prepared for your first fitting.
The First Fitting
Part One: Your Personal Pattern
During your first fitting, your Raconteur will come to you with everything we need. We’ll peruse fabric swatches and talk details like collars, cuffs, buttons, and monograms. With your story as North Star, your Raconteur will combine his aesthetic expertise and our house style to introduce you to new ideas and guide you to the most fitting design choices.
You’ll have free range, but you’re not alone.
With your designs complete, the Raconteur will take your measurements. We use fit garments in the house block as a baseline, adjusting to create a personalized pattern that suits the specifics of your body and your posture. At the end of the first fitting, we’ll confirm all the details, finalize payment, and send your order to our workshop.
See you in 4-6 weeks for your second fitting.
The Second Fitting
Part Two: Wear Your Story
When your garments are ready, your Raconteur will personally deliver them so you can try them on in your own home. If your story is complete, congratulations on your new pieces!
If any alterations are necessary, we’ll pin them up and revise your custom pattern to achieve your desired fit. We’ll take your garments to be altered by our trusted team of tailors and once alterations are complete, your Raconteur will deliver them once more for a final fitting.
Although we prefer to complete second fittings in person, virtual sessions are also available. We’ll ship your completed garments directly to your home, and your Raconteur will join you for a video fitting. Should alterations be necessary during a virtual second fitting, we’ll recommend trusted tailors in your area.
When you’re ready to create a new garment, your personal made-to-measure pattern will be waiting in our library so you can expand on a theme or take your story in a new direction.
